We roll through

We roll through: VIENNA

Wir rollen durch: WIEN

Hi, my name is Dani and I'm really happy to be able to write an article for Naturkind on the topic of "Vienna with a stroller". How I got this opportunity can be seen quite clearly in the following lines.

In October 2019 I founded the company Lilia 's.
Lilia's is an environmentally conscious and tourism-oriented stroller rental company that makes it easy for families to make their stay in Vienna a little more pleasant. That means our focus is clearly on completely relieving parents who are traveling with their kids of one thing: "The stroller"!

Where to put the stroller?

Either it is too heavy, takes up too much space, whether in the car or on the plane, or maybe it was very expensive and the risk of it breaking is simply too great (after all, it has long been no secret how “carefully” our belongings are transported from A to B at the airport, for example).

Anyone who vacations in Vienna will be anything but disappointed

But the question of "where to put it" isn't the only thing that's stressful enough when you're already in vacation mode. The thought of the impending lugging alone is enough to make you break out in a sweat. Because if you have children, you know full well that on every little trip, apart from the clothes, etc., half of the children's room is always there too.
It's nice to be able to use a service that takes away a little worry and brings more relaxation. And this is where the connection between Naturkind and Lilia's comes into play. You can rent the Lux sports car from me very conveniently online. The stroller problem is now solved:)
And once you arrive in Vienna, you immediately feel the magic.
Little New York, a piece of Paris and Mother Nature in harmony with civilization. There is great magic in the air here. Too poetic? Not at all. Anyone who vacations in Vienna will return home anything but disappointed. I was born and raised in Vienna and I know what I'm talking about. Totally in love, 100%.

“Get information from the locals. They know best where the best places are. Right!”

The list of sights, art and culture, shopping and culinary delights is endless. But as the saying goes, "what you don't know won't hurt you". Which means that if you don't know your way around a foreign city well enough, you won't know where all the good places are hidden. And going on holiday with the motto "Challenge accepted", looking through all sorts of travel guides or surfing the internet for hours, is not a good idea and will end up being more frustrating than beneficial. After all, you have the kids with you and just going through the tourist program is not an option.
Hence the new trend: get information from the locals. They know best where the most beautiful places are. Right!
And this is where I come in:)

As a Viennese and also as a mother, I have the honor of presenting a few great insider tips for Naturkind and for you travelers with kids. As I already mentioned, the list is endless but one or two places will make your heart beat a little faster:)

Let's start with exercise and fresh air. Get out into nature - even in the city.

1st Motorikpark, 22nd district

The public motor skills park is particularly suitable for lots of exercise in the fresh air. A wide variety of stations invite children to strengthen their motor skills across 21,000 square meters. Time passes in a flash here. Great fun, even for the parents.

2. Am Himmel, 19th district

If you prefer something a little quieter, with a beautiful view, you will find your happiness at Am Himmel . With a view over the whole of Vienna, you can enjoy a very special atmosphere here. Although you are there, a little away from the city, you don't have to worry about being bored or having food. Equipped with a huge playground and the Café Restaurant Oktogon, you can stay at Am Himmel for a long time without the children getting restless. If you are still interested, you can also take a look at the Tree of Life Circle or the Sissi Chapel. While you are there 🙂

3. Türkenschanzpark, 18th district

The Türkenschanzpark , which is a little further towards the city, is by far one of the most beautiful parks in Vienna. Here you can really let off steam as you please. Go for a walk, run, cycle, play, have a picnic, eat or just dream. Everything is possible in this park. I can highly recommend it.

4. Museumsquartier, 7th district

If we move a little closer to the city, to be precise, we'll find the Museumsquartier in the 7th district, the wonderful alternative artists' quarter. A particularly recommendable location in spring and summer. The huge area offers plenty of culinary delights and a wide variety of art facilities in one place. The Zoom Children's Museum is particularly recommended for kids. Here they can explore the world in a playful way (note: you have to register for this. I recommend doing this before you arrive. Unfortunately, there's nothing you can do spontaneously). But if you just want to sit in the sun with a good coffee, you can definitely do that too. The children have plenty of freedom to move around in an area of 90,000m2 :)

Shopping: My insider tips

6. Bunny Bogart, 1st district & 7. Lalekula, 7th + 14th district

If you feel like shopping (you can never have enough clothes or toys for the little ones and in other cities you can find special one-off items that you don't have at home), I can wholeheartedly recommend Bunny Bogart , the little People Concept Store by Lena Hoschek and Lalekula . If you value sustainability and beautiful design, you've come to the right place. Your eyes will light up when you enter the Bunny Bogart store, it's so cute and you can also buy Naturkind products at Lalekula. So don't miss it 🙂

Vienna also has a lot to offer in terms of cuisine

8. Stadtwirt, 3rd district

After a long day of fun and games, sightseeing or shopping, you're obviously very hungry. Pssst, at the Stadtwirt in the 3rd district they serve a delicious Wiener Schnitzel with tasty fries for the whole family, definitely a little insider tip. My daughter loves eating there 🙂
The price/performance ratio is always top notch here. And the Kaiserschmarren. Simply Viennese good.

9. Hidden Kitchen, 1st + 3rd district

I can highly recommend the Hidden Kitchen to all vegetarians and vegans. Fresh, organic food is cooked here every day. Stop by and see for yourself. (Warning: lunchtime is usually a hectic day. So come early, because it closes at 4 p.m.)

10. Leones, 1st + 2nd + 8th district

If you are visiting our beautiful city of Vienna in the summer and are looking for a delicious ice cream with real organic ingredients, you will find it at Leones . Leones makes every palate dream. My absolute favorite ice cream parlor, forever and ever. A little tip: you can read on the homepage which flavors are available, they vary because the ice cream is made fresh every day - oh yes!

11. Paremi, 1st district

Before you head home, you should definitely have a good, hearty breakfast. Paremi has the best croissants in town and many other French delicacies. Combined with a delicious coffee, you immediately feel a little French 🙂

12. Bäckerei Öfferl, 1st + 6th + 18th district

But if you prefer Austrian food with the best organic quality, you are only a stone's throw away from Öfferl. Here baked goods with a very individual character merge together. Simply fantastic.

Body, Mind & Soul – Time Out for Mom

13. Yoga Institut Freiraum, 9th district

Last but not least, I would like to introduce you to the Freiraum Yoga Institute . Perhaps one or two of the mothers will find some time for themselves with all the great activities and decide to relax with a bit of yoga. For all new mothers, Freiraum also offers yoga courses with babies. Here too, it is advisable to know the timetable before you arrive so that you can register for courses in good time.

public transport

14. Wiener Linien

Finally, I have one final tip. With our great public transport from Wiener Linien, you can get anywhere quickly and easily. If you get one of the old high-floor trains and are travelling alone, it is best to get in at the front door with your stroller. The Wiener Linien drivers will be happy to help you get in. In addition to pure transport, Wiener Linien also offers the opportunity to get to know the city better. Feel like a real Viennese. So roll through Vienna with Naturkind:)

So have fun and all the best, Dani

Dani from Lilia's

After her family traveled a lot and her daughter Lilia refused to go out on her own every now and then, Dani researched in Miami whether there was a stroller rental service. She found one and took the idea with her to Vienna. In 2019, she founded Lilia's, the capital's first stroller rental service. Dani knows Vienna like the back of her hand and will bring strollers to the hotel of Vienna vacationers on request. A wonderful service for city explorers big and small. www.lilias-stroller.at
